Welcome!
August 2018
Dear Fourth Grader,
I hope you had a great summer, and are rested and ready to begin a new and exciting school year! I went to the Florida Keys and witnessed the release of two sea turtles back into the wild, and can’t wait to tell you about it! I will also be sharing an exciting project we will be doing with the Turtle Rescue Hospital. This will be a first for our class, and I can’t wait to share this unique learning opportunity with you!
For the first couple of weeks, we will be getting to know one another, doing some team building, as well as setting up our classroom routines. I am looking forward to meeting you, and I am curious to know what your interests are: what you like to read, what you like to do outside of school, and if you have any special talents.
To help us get to know each other better, I would like you to bring the following items with you on the first day of school. In a small brown paper lunch bag place the following four items :
- A picture of you and your family
- 3 items that represent who you are: they could be your likes or talents
For example, I will place a picture of my family and then 3 items in the small paper bag. I may place a gardening tool in my bag because I love to garden. The next two will be a mystery I will share with you in the first coming weeks.
I will be standing outside the classroom door (which is located on the second floor) ready to greet you on September 5th! In addition, please have your supplies (our supply list is on the Pawling website and attached) with you the first day of school so we can begin to get organized for our year together. Enjoy the rest of the summer, and I look forward to meeting/seeing you soon!
Sincerely,
, Mrs. Carlson
