Mrs. Paden's Bio

My name is Mrs. Paden and I am extremely excited to become your Art Teacher at Pawling Elementary! I am originally from Putnam County, New York, but I have been living in Northern Virginia with my husband for about seven years. I have a B.A. in Art Education from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY and an M.A. in Art Education from Boston University.

I taught art at various levels in New York, Virginia, and in Washington D.C. Public Schools. I have experience teaching therapeutic art as well as advanced studio curriculum. The arts will introduce students to a variety of materials and works which will increase visual art vocabulary and allow students to explore diverse cultures societies. The arts also encourage creativity, self-expression and strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, in this program we have a unique opportunity to couple core content areas with many different art concepts.

I am also an artist in my spare time and for most of my career I have focused on drawing and painting using various materials and techniques. Aside from art and art history, I enjoy hiking, kayaking and spending time with family and friends.

Please feel free to contact me at Padens@pcsdny.org. You can also follow me on Instagram @Paden_pawling_es to see what’s going on in the art room!

Please make sure that you completed and submitted the Pawling Permission to Publish Revocation Form if you do not want your child’s photograph or art work posted or published. I'm eager to become a part of the Pawling community and I am looking forward to a great year!!

Thank you,

Sara Paden
